day/night painted by hand

This ochs und junior day/night is the second project we have realized with the artist Bernadette Sommer. We were given the opportunity to develop this watch thanks to a client from Los Angeles. Just like in our first project with Sommer (more information on that special watch soon), individual parts have been laboriously painted by hand, using extremely precise brushes and microscopes.

The center of this watch, the dial, shows the Big Bang, and thus the beginning of the development of the earth and of life. For the sun, we have taken a NASA photography as model. And at night, the moon shines in white Super-LumiNova; the craters are symbolized by embedded sterling silver 925 shavings. The day and night display has been artfully hand-patinated by Sandra Flück.
