ETA and UN-118

Ludwiggreenwatch

Ludwig Oechslin powers all of his current watches for ochs und junior with the ETA 2824 calibre. This is the base movement that Ludwig Oechslin adds just 3 parts to to create an intuitive annual calendar watch, and just 5 parts to to create a moon phase watch calculation that will be off by only one day after 3,478.27 years.

Ludwig Oechslin enjoys working with ETA base movements because they are extremely flexible and offer a great deal of space for him to create new and unique functions. The robustness and high-reliability of ETA movements also perfectly fit the concept of ochs und junior, which makes watches for daily use. ochs und junior intends to continue using ETA calibres in both its current and future watches.

Last week, HODINKEE posted an excellent review of Ludwig Oechslin’s recent ochs und junior innovations built on top of ETA movements.

UN-118

In the spring of 2012, Ulysse Nardin and ochs und junior established a long-term strategic partnership. The partnership strengthened the technical cooperation between the two companies. As part of the agreement, the Ulysse Nardin UN-118 calibre became available to ochs und junior.

Here are our plans for the UN-118: Ludwig Oechslin is developing a new calendar watch which is specifically designed to take advantage of the unique capabilities of the UN-118. We expect to deliver this watch in mid-to-late 2016, and for the price to be in the range of CHF 25,000.

ETA and UN-118

ochs und junior intends to continue using ETA movements to power Ludwig Oechslin’s unique functions after the UN-118 calendar watch is released. ETA and UN movements have different strengths, and ochs und junior will take advantage of the unique merits of both calibres in current and future projects.
