Setting your watch

New owners: we always set your moon phase watch to the correct moon phase, time and date before shipping it to you. Since we use FedEx, and your watch has a 38 hour power reserve, there is a chance it will still be running when you open the box. In this case there is nothing to do, except wear your new watch to wind its automatic movement! If your watch has stopped, you will just need to follow the shorter, first set of instructions. Please contact the ochs und junior team if you have any questions.

If your watch has stopped for a few days

Step 1

Turn the crown counterclockwise to unlock it. A spring will push the crown out to position 0 when it has unlocked. Then, turn the crown clockwise approximately 30 times. Your watch has now reached its maximum power reserve of 38 hours. If you wear your watch regularly throughout the day, you will not need to wind it again. The automatic winder will do that for you.

Step 2

Pull the crown out to position 2 and turn the hands clockwise until the correct date is displayed. By setting the date in position 2 using the hands, the moon phase will stay in sync with the date. Next, make sure that the watch is set to the correct time within the 24 hour cycle. Re-lock the crown by twisting it clockwise while gently pushing it in. Please do not apply too much force, as this might damage the thread, especially for cases made of sterling silver 925.

If your watch has stopped for a longer time

Step 1

Turn the crown counterclockwise to unlock it. A spring will push the crown out to position 0 when it has unlocked. Then turn the crown clockwise approximately 30 times. Your watch has now reached its maximum power reserve of 38 hours. If you wear your watch regularly throughout the day, you will not need to wind it again. The automatic winder will do that for you.

Step 2

Pull crown out twice (position 2) and set full moon (brighter circle in line with earth and sun) by turning the hour and minute hands. If it requires fewer turns, you can also set the moon phase to new moon (darker circle in line with earth and sun).

Step 3

Important: the date must not be adjusted between 8pm and 2am. After making sure the time is not between 8pm and 2am, push the crown into position 1 and set the date of the last full moon by turning the crown clockwise. If in Step 2, and you have set the moon phase to new moon, set the date to the date of the most recent new moon. Full moon and new moon dates for 2021.

Step 4

Pull the crown out once more and turn the hands until they indicate the precise date and time, then finish by pressing the crown back in fully. From now on, the moon disk will adjust automatically. At the end of months with less than 31 days, set the date to the 1st of the month by pulling the crown out to position 1 and adjusting the date clockwise. This will keep the moon phase and date in sync. To re-lock the crown, push the crown in while twisting it gently clockwise. You will feel the crown ‘catch’. After it catches, continue screwing the crown clockwise until it is tight. Please be careful not to apply too much force, as this might damage the thread, especially for cases made of sterling silver 925.
